The Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, his supporters, and Malacañang will never back down to the impeachment complaint filed by Magdalo Representative Gary Alejano on Thursday, March 16. The president said on Sunday, March 19, he even welcomes the impeachment complaint.
"I welcome both developments. They can do their worst, I can do better in my work in government. This is a democracy," he said.
According to GMA News, the 16-page complaint of the former mutineer Alejano contains grounds for impeachment such as:
- Engaging in bribery
- Betrayal of public trust
- Graft and corruption
- Committed other high crimes
Speaking of impeachment, Duterte claimed that Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo is in a hurry to replace him as president. During his meeting in Myanmar on Sunday, March 19, Duterte slammed his political enemies, and one of them (he believed) is Robredo.
"Si Leni, apurado masyado maging presidente (Leni, she's in a hurry to become president)," he said in his speech.
