#Coryleaks: Cory's Airstrike Plot to Kill Rebels Bared

A 13-million page haystack of declassified documents from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) allegedly contains a report that former President Cory Aquino plotted in 1989 an airstrike from the United States to kill rebels of the government.

In the document published by Carlos Munda for Minda Nation, the mother of democracy apparently requested help from US to silence loyalists of the dictator, late President Ferdinand Marcos.

It was when CIA let these more than 12 million pages of declassified documents available online when Munda, out of his curiosity, look for files that concerns the Philippines.

Out of the haystack, he had found this document:

It was written that Cory requested  F-4 Panthom jets from her foreign ally to crush a mutiny leading all the efforts for her ouster.

The said request, as written in the document, was reported in Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post.

In history, the first Philippine woman president faced six failed coup d'etat attempts, including one executed by Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM) led by then Colonel, now Senator Gringo Honasan which had almost seized Malacanang Palace.

United States has been a close ally of Aquino in championing against plots to overthrow her government.

However, Americans refused to do the attack as requested. In fact, 12 congressmen from opposition condemned the request for military assistance for fear of collateral damage.

The said military aid sought by Aquino from US was tagged as "a shameless act of surrender of sovereignty to a foreign power."

Instead of the airstrike plan that may have risks lives of many Filipinos, phantom jets deployed didn't fire even a single shot but just flew over Metro Manila as a reminder of force to rebels if they insist their insurrection.

The document is available at the website of CIA library or in the article published by Munda at Minda Nation.
