Bato on 'Cruel' Resignation Call: Ask the President to Remove Me

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa replied to resounding resignation call, ask the president to remove him.

“Akala ba nila nag-e-enjoy ako sa trabaho ko. Gusto nila ako mag-resign, sabihin nila sa Presidente na paalisin ako,” Dela Rosa said.

To save President Rodrigo Duterte from embarrassment and to preserve respect to PNP, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez called for the resignation of Dela Rosa amid the kidnapping slay case of a korean businessman on Friday.

Admitting that the 'Tokhang for Ransom' controversy is a shame and an obvious shortcoming of the police organization, the chief still described the resignation call as cruel.

“Grabe naman sila. How cruel of them to say na magresign ako. Wala na nga akong pahinga, wala na nga akong tulog but anyway we cannot satisfy everyone,” he said.

The killing of South Korean Jee Ick Joo inside the premises of Camp Crame in a fake drug 'Oplan: Tokhang' operation tainted PNP's credibility in their war against drugs anew.

It was remembered that Jee was kidnapped from Angeles City last year, abductors apparently demanding for ransom twice.

Alvarez, a close ally of the President, advised Dela Rosa to resign or better yet, to pass his job to "someone else who is dead serious in leading the PNP."

In his observation, Bato seems to be more interested in doing "mundane things" like singing and watching concerts.

"Social media like YouTube is now replete with the booboos of General Dela Rosa including his running away from a press conference like a headless chicken after the pyrotechnic device he was holding started to smoke," he said.

However, Dela Rosa expressed his willingness to keep his position as soon as the war against drugs isn't over.

“Habang meron pa kaming mission na gagawin tapusin muna namin itong war on drugs. Siguro kapag tapos na, ma-declare na natin na drug-free ang buong Pilipinas pwede na ako mag-resign," he added.
