Activists are urging the Republican Jewish Coalition to abandon its support for presidential candidate Donald Trump as the presumptive GOP nominee in preparation to secure his party's backing this month in Cleveland.
The social justice group Bend the Arc launched a petition calling on Republican Jewish Coalition Director Matt Brooks to walk back the RJC's endorsement after Trump used a Star of David in a tweet and using the image to call Democratic contender Hillary Clinton that "most corrupt candidate ever."
According to Bend the Arc, the social media post was only the most recent incident in a series of missteps that should concern Jews. They also stated that it is no longer about a single tweet but about a deplorable pattern of racist behavior that is fueling Trump's big for the White House.
Many Jewish Republicans already demanded for Trump to change his ways but the most powerful Republican Jewish group, the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) still remained silent.
