A mass resignation was being plotted by some groups to destabilize the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano claimed that apparently, groups plotting the ouster of the President are busily recruiting government officials to join the alleged mass resignation.
He added on a statement on Sunday that the plan is part of a major protest action that will be held during the State of the Nation Address (SONA) this coming July.
He noted, from an unknown source, that holdover, retiring, and officials nearly to be fired are convinced to join the move to "create an impression that there’s a massive withdrawal of support to the administration."
Cayetano added that the plot is a follow up to the failed plan to create a massive celebration during the People Power anniversary.
Sen. Paolo Benigno Aquino IV of the opposition however denied the allegation, saying that he haven't heard the plan to oust Duterte.
He even added that the Liberal Party will not be involved if there will be such a plan.
