A 23-year-old female inmate in Sipalay City was raped by two jail officers after a drinking session inside the detention facility on Sunday evening.
The victim's live in partner filed rape complaints before the warden's office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Based on an investigation from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Office, jailers took the victim outside of jail for another drink when the rape incident happened.
BJMP-18 spokesperson Jail Inspector Mar Louie Salcedo added that the drinking session happened despite prohibition on alcoholic drinks inside the prison.
"Drinking inside the jail facility should not be tolerated, much more from personnel on duty," he said.
Salcedo also noted that the two will face rape charges as they will be dismissed for grave misconduct.
The jail warden and the deputy jail warden will also face administrative liabilities for permitting the drinking session in their jurisdiction.
