Gina, not her real name, was then excited to meet again her husband who worked abroad for two years.
But his husband, like some cases of OFW who are tempted to commit adultery while away from their family, doesn't just brought home his infidelity but a fate that will deeply affect his family.
His husband died because of AIDS, and now, she is battling with HIV that she acquired from her unfaithful husband.
It was when her husband was rushed to the hospital and had been diagnosed with HIV. His immune system got so weak and later on died.
“Grabe ‘yung excitement ko nang malaman kong malapit na siyang bumalik ng Pilipinas. Then one time, may tumawag sa aking isinugod sa hospital ang mister ko. Ipinamalita sa akin ng Doctor na may AIDS ang asawa ko,” she recounted.
But her husband's death is not the last of their misfortune. She was also diagnosed with the said virus.
She admitted that she was sometimes confused if she has to feel angry with her husband or just to feel sorry for him.
But what's important for her now is to keep strong while battling with HIV for their children.
May this be a lesson for OFWs abroad to be remain faithful and loyal to their family in the Philippines.
