'Junior New System' Wins Major Awards in World Championship of Performing Arts





Filipino teen dance group Junior New System brought pride to the country anew after winning major awards at this year's World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA).

The all-Filipino hip-hop dance troupe won the "Dance Group of the Year" and "Grand Champion of the Year" awards in the Senior category of the annual WCOPA.

The competition, held between July 8 and 17 in Long Beach, California, assembled groups of artists in different fields from approximately 40 countries. Fields include acting, dancing, modeling, singing and variety acts.



In addition to the title, the 2016 prize packages for both Junior and Senior Grand Champions include: 


  • 2017 WCOPA Appearance with hotel room accomodation provided and $1,000 USD cash
  • $1,000 USD value-guaranteed scholarship for continuing education
  • Written professional critique by seasoned entertainment industry professionals
  • Large custom world championship trophy
  • Special guest and introduction at VIP party with celebrity guest panel
  • Publicity and promotion: IWA feature story, WCOPA spotlight article and multi-platform social media campaign
  • Special gift package from participating sponsors


In their official Facebook page, Junior New System expressed their gratitude to supporters. "Para sa inyo po itong lahat! Maraming salamat po muli sa mga suporta niyo," the winning group wrote.



Last year, the group made headlines as a Golden Buzzer finalist in the inaugural season of "Asia's Got Talent," which was won by another Filipino group, El Gamma Penumbra.
