Durant's reason for leaving Oklahoma City finally surfaced, expecting for the heartbroken fans of OKC to understand him this time. The Golden State's new forward has been going through frustrations with OKC and he finally made that "basketball decision."
According to a person with insight into Durant's thought process, he got frustrated and felt they had plateaued. Even when Donovan came in, he still had the same issues that he had with Russ under Scotty.
Westbrook has frustrated Donovan on plenty of occasions. Many times though this past season's Conference finals, communication broke down, questionable shot were taken, and Westbrook seemed to dribble around way too much.
There were also several team arguments, and Kevin Durant's decision to leave is a testament to that very frustration.
He speaks of "growth" and "evolution" in his latter with the Players Tribune, a clear indication that he has given up on Oklahoma City already. And neither does playing with Westbrook.
He also had frustrations with Coach Donovan's system, as well as GM Sam Presti's love of everything Westbrook. Escaping these frustrations lead him to the point where he had to leave the team.
Westbrook can't be contained and the Thunder lost Durant because of it.
Things are expected to be different for Durant with the Warriors, team that has been tight with their players as a family.
