Six young Filipino gamers took home big winnings in two different online game tournaments at the 2016 World Electronic Sports Game (WESG) grand finals, held between January 12 and 15 in Changzhou, china.
TNC Pro Team, composed of Marc "Raven" Fausto, Ryo "ryOry" Hasegawa, Samson "Sam_H" Hidalgo, Carlo "Kuku" Palad, and Timothy "Tims" Randrup - won its first title in the Dota 2 Tournament, earning US$800,000 or roughly P40 million.
Each player will go home with around US$144,000, or roughly P7.2 million, considering a cut of 10%. This is the most that any eSports team in the Philippines has received in the history of eSports.
Dota 2 is a multi-player online battle arena game pitting two teams against each other to destroy the opposing team's base.
The team defeated Denmark's Cloud9 in the grand finals game, with a 2-1 record.
Last year, TNC finished top 8 at the prestigious annual Dota 2 Tournament, where they made a Cinderella run.

Meanwhile, another Filipino eSports player, Euneil Staz Javiñas of Team PH Alliance has won the WESG Heartstone World Finals after defeating Swedish player Jon Orange Westberg.
Javiñas took home a cash prize of UD$150,000 or roughly P7.5 million.
Hearthstone is a turn-based, online collectible card game where two opposing players attempt to whittle down the other's health by summoning spells and attack units in the form of cards.
