READ: Man Who Books an "Angkas" Motorcycle Acquired COMA After Accident, Company Disregards Giving Aid

Angkas, like Uber and Grab, is also a known and widely-used ride-sharing app in Metro Manila, but only for motorcycle riders.

It has been a booming industry among professionals in busy districts. But just recently, it was tinted by how a passenger was put into critical condition after an accident he acquired from Angkas.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) warns the public regarding the dangers of this app.

Allegedly, the company refuses to give assistance to the hospitalization of Alejandro “Allen” Cajano, a part-time model, who is now under comatose.

It was a rainy night then when he tried to ride an Angkas ride on his way home but the motorcycle he booked suddenly slipped when the vehicle in front made a sudden stop.

Cajano fell off and hit his head on the pavement and simultaneously hit by a succeeding SUV.

He acquired severe injuries on his head and spinal cord, putting him into coma.

The SUV driver has offered help for the family in some of his expenses but Angkas was reportedly refusing the family for some aid, Sunshine Cajano, his sister said.

Cajano's hospital bills have totaled to over Php1 million.

Angkas manager Ralp Brondial wrote that while the driver Zammy Banzuela was authorized to use the ride-sharing app to connect with passengers, he is not directly employed by the company.

Angkas emphasized that they had no obligation over what happened to the victim.
