Another Filipino has proven that
bayanihan still exists nowadays when he has brought a mom to her son before he
has given his last breath.
Anica Velarde Espinosa shares how
this Grab driver forgets his job just to bring her to her dying son within 45
minutes.
It was when she was just gotten
home when she received a message from her son’s caregiver that Sean’s (her son)
respiratory rate was getting slow and he’s already in 50/50.
Shocked, Anica immediately took
the Grab app and booked for a car. Crying, she boarded the car, she was
asked by the driver, Grape Fernandez what happened, she was too distressed to answer him.
Quietly listening, Grape noticed
that Anica was begging the caregiver to take video of her son so she could see him if she wouldn’t
be able to arrive on time. Grape immediately thought of his kids and felt
Anica’s grief and pain that led him to turn on his hazard lights and start
beeping to indicate an emergency. He began to drive as fast as he could so
Anica would be able to reach the hospital before Sean died.
Grape admitted in an interview
that he was saddened with what he had witnessed. Grab recognized and commended
him for his good deed.
