Top Employers' Choice of Schools in the Philippines, According to JobStreet. Is Your School Included?

Graduates from the University of the Philippines (UP) System were the best new hires in 2016, according to the latest Fresh Graduates 2017 Report of JobStreet Philippines.

JobStreet Philippines Country Manager Philip A. Gioca said in a briefing in Taguig City that UP reclaimed the top spot from third place last year, based on employer's perception of who among their fresh graduate hires were top performers.

UP was followed by last year's employers' top pick Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) at second place and Ateneo de Manila (ADMU) at third.

"More than any time in recent history, the changes in attitude and preferences in employment have become rapid and constant," Gioca said.

"Job seekers should equip themselves with further knowledge should they want a distinct advantage in this highly competitive field," he added.

Gioca explained that employers consider attitude, field of study and salary.

Coming out fourth was University of Sto. Tomas (UST), from last years second slot. Dela Salle University (DLSU) moved a notch up from last year's sixth to this year's fifth place. Technological Institute of the Philippines came out sixth from last year's seventh place.

Following behind were Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) at 7th; Far Easter University (FEU) at 8th; Mapua Institute of Technology at 9th; and Adamson University at 10th spot.

PUP is the new main draw for industries with the most jobs while UP is the school of choice for technical and corporate employers.

PUP also earned most employers' trust as the state university is the main source of fresh hires, with 56% employer survey score, followed by UP with 46% and UST with 44%.
