Suspected Drug User Swallowed Sachets of Shabu to Avoid Arrest, But...

A suspected drug dependent in Surallah, South Cotabato, tried to avoid police arrest by swallowing two sachets of shabu on Monday afternoon.

However, he forgot about the 3 other packets of drugs in his pocket.

Police officers arrived in the house of Edward Mallo, 39, due to complaints of domestic disturbance in Barangay Dajay in Surallah.

According to Chief Inspector Joel Fuerte, Mallo quickly swallowed two sachets of methamphetame hydrochloride in an attempt to outsmart the authorities but he forgot he had three other sachets in his pocket that the police eventually recovered.

Before the police came, Mallo's sibings had sought police assistance after the suspect threatened his brothers and sisters with a knife. Mallo was under the influence of liquor and threatened to harm anyone who would cross his path.

Fuerte said if Mallo had enough time, he would have swallowed all five sachets of shabu.
