A 10-year internet project of the government plans to install 100,000 Wi-Fi sites all over the country.
The P3 billion project aims to address poor internet access in many places nationwide.
Apparently, the government will prioritize places where there is no internet connection at all.
It will also be set up in many public places, said Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Usec. Jorge Sarmiento.
“Sa mga park, plaza sa mga local government unit areas, health centers, pier ang lalagyan ng free public Wi-Fi," he noted.
Public schools will also be provided with free internet access.
Philippines ranked 64th among 138 countries in terms of the number of houses with own internet connection in 2016, based from the United Nations Broadband Commission for Development.
Statistically, three out of every 10 homes have internet in their own homes
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte already approves the implementation of National Broadband Program.
