A grandmother died after a mixer truck rammed her along Quirino Highway in Quezon City on Saturday.
Celerina Ramos, 67, crosses the street on a pedestrian lane when a truck drove by Isagani Grateja smashed her.
The old lady's body was almost crushed after she was rammed simultaneously.
Jerry Marcos, son of the victim, said that this won't happen to his mother if the suspect drives properly.
He should have noticed his mother crossing on the pedestrian lane, Marcos added.
A witness told the police that the truck driver wore headset during the accident.
Dalawang tainga," the female eyewitness testified.
Grateja, however, explained that he wore the earpiece after the accident to call the owner of the mixer truck.
The driver, who was already jailed at the moment, will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and other offenses that are still under study.
