An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Dubai was found dead
after hanging himself inside his own unit on Monday.
A 31-year-old gas station employee, a man called “G.L.” was
caught lifeless hanging from a ceiling fan using necktie and leather belt at
around 5pm, Qusais Police Station representatives said to Khaleej Times.
Based on initial investigation, G.L. had some problems and
was believed to commit suicide.
Based on his friends’ account, the deceased, who was
seemingly pained, called his wife in the Philippines on Sunday after his
graveyard duty.
“I don’t know what went wrong. He rang up his wife on Sunday
evening and said he was suffering from a severe headache and that he intended
to kill himself,” his friend added.
Another from his circle noted that he was a good player of
basketball, a bodybuilder and humorous but he was sometimes depressed.
His job contract has
remaining one year to expire.
“The body has been taken to the forensic department and will
be handed over to relatives after legal procedures,” police added.
His body will be repatriated soon.
