MUST WATCH: Mother of Tanay Bus Driver Tragedy Seeks Forgiveness

Myrna Lacorda, mother of the deceased bus driver in the Tanay bus tragedy, had to borrow money to fly from Surigao Del Norte to Manila to claim the body of her son Julian.

Together with Julian's wife, they went straight to Majar Funeral Homes in Quezon City, where the body Julian was placed.

Myrna relayed it was only through TV and social media that she knew about her son's demise -- about the bus mishap that killed 14 others on their way to a leadership training camp.

Myrna expressed her condolences and sincere apologies to the bereaved families of the victims. She also asked for everyone's forgiveness.

"Pare-pareho kaming nawalan ng anak, 'di naman kagustuhan namin na maaksidente," she said.

[We all lost a loved one. Nobody wanted this accident to happen.]

According to Myrna, Julian decided 20 years ago to become a driver in Manila to earn more money for the family.

"Gusto niya maghanap ng drive. Sabi ko sa kanya, dito ka na lang, mag-ano sa isda, mag-utang, mag-motor para maghanapbuhay. Hind naman siya makinig sa akin," she explained.

[He wanted to find a driving job. I asked him to stay, he could fish, we could borrow money to buy the motoring needs to fish. But he wouldn't listen.]

Julian had been driving vans, taxis and company buses before becoming a driver for Panda Coach and Tours in 2016. He had 5 children in Surigao.

Myrna said they still need to find the money to fly Julian's body home.

"Naghihingi kami ng tulong makahanap ng paraan na dalhin sa probinsiya," she said.

[We would like to request for financial aid so we could bring Julian to the province.]

They're waiting to hear from the bus company for financial assistance.
