Adding to the current fire when House of Representatives removed rape from their list of heinous crimes, the veteran journalist shared his thoughts and suddenly brought Twitter into storm.
Reacting to a news report on the controversial move of the House majority, he tweeted: "Fair. Why not only on a case-to-case basis for heinous crimes as SC determines, which anyway can strike down every death sentence."
A curious netizen then asked him, "Are you saying that rape is not a heinous crime?"
The netizen got a reply that shook twitter universe: "It is a crime, an indignity, an outrage—but not a heinous crime. What's wrong with you?"
The statement, which appears to be insensitive for some, sparked online debates.
Locsin even fired back to critics with examples of heinous crimes as response.
