MUST SEE: 57 Subdivisions/Villages in Greater Metro Manila Projected to be Severely Damaged by 'The Big One' Earthquake (Check if Your Area is Included)

57 residential villages in Greater Metro Manila (Rizal- Cavite) were found to be situated on the West Valley Fault, a 100-km active fault feared to produce a 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

In a list produced by Rappler, some houses and subdivisions appeared to exist above the delicate fault line.

The list was based on maps released by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) to instill awareness to the public regarding an inevitable environmental threat.

Phivolcs also warned that among the earthquake's greater casualty were in residential structures either built near the fault line or those which failed to follow current building codes.



They advised that houses built on top or five meters away from the fault should be vacated.

Statistically, 40% of residential structures in Manila will be "heavily or partially damaged," Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum Jr said.

Absence in this list doesn't guarantee safety from the 'Big One'. Everyone must be aware and should employ precautionary measures issued by authorities.
