For alleged lack of action in the Mamasapano encounter, former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile said that former President Benigno Aquino III should be held accountable.
“Ang may kasalanan diyan walang iba kundi iyang presidente ng Pilipinas, naintindihan ba niya ang trabaho niya as head of state as chief executive of the country?,” Enrile said.
The clash where 44 members of the Special Armed Forces of AFP were slain is allegedly a responsibility that should be shouldered by their commander-in-chief by then, which is Aquino.
In that cause, Enrile insists that the former President must be charged of Treason, the crime of betraying one's country.
During the encounter, Aquino was with former DILG Sec. Mar Roxas and former Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin that he has the all immediate power to do something, Enrile added.
It was already two years ago when the 44 fallen heroes were killed in a mission to neutralize Malaysian bomb maker Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan and his Filipino cohort Basit Usman.
