Following the arrest of two Manila-based police for extortion, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa exposed that 'kotong' cops protect truck drivers from other policemen as a sideline.
Bato elaborated that these cops escort drivers to guard them from other mulcting cops.
“These police officers are smart. They cook the truck drivers in their own juices,” he said.
It was on Sunday when Senior Police Officer 1 Rodito Magluyan and Police Officer 3 Roel Candelario, reportedly extorting money from motorists and taxi drivers in Manila, were arrested.
The two policemen were recorded as first cops to be arrested in PNP's internal cleansing.
Dela Rosa clarified that having sidelines are okay as long it doesn't take government time and must not have conflict of interest to their profession.
