After keeping it as a secret for a very long time, comedienne Ai-Ai de las Alas revealed that she has been battling with Psoriasis, a skin disease.
De las Alas, 52, said that her skin condition has long been there since she was 15 years old.
“I’ve kept it a secret for a long time, but now that it has become manageable I’ve decided to talk about it publicly so I can share what I did to more people,” she added.
Before, she was used to wear long-sleeved shirts to hide her skin's red scaly patches.
When she became an actress, she got no choice but to expose some skin by hiding it with makeup.
It was just recent in 2016 when she experienced a major skin flare up and her usual medicine doesn't work for her anymore.
In order to cope up, she changed her diet by avoiding foods that triggers her condition and improved her lifestyle by occasionally hitting the gym.
“Psoriasis manifests if one’s immune system is compromised,” she explained.
Realizing her disease as an avenue to help others in the same state, she is pursuing to be an advocate of psoriasis awareness.
Apparently, the comedy queen is evidently losing weight and seen to show more skin in the way she dress through her healthy lifestyle.
