Rody Wants Abu Sayyaf Eliminated

President Duterte expressed his desire to eliminate the terror group Abu Sayyaf in this year's first joint command conference in Malacañang with the chiefs and ranking officers of the Armed forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The President also called on the military and police to guard their ranks against corruption.

According to Abella, despite the criticisms against the administration's war on drugs, the President is determined to pursue his campaign until the last pusher is put behind bars or eliminated.

Also at the command conference were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno, AFP chief General Eduardo Año, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr.

PNP Chaplain Service director Police Sr. Supt. Eligio Mativo prayed for guidance for the AFP and the PNP officials that wisely and justly perform their tasks to ensure the safety and security of the people.

At Camp Aguinaldo also on Friday, Año said he wanted homegrown terrorists and their foreign allies eliminated during his term.

AFP spokesman Col. Edgard Arevalo said he was clear, concise and direct in his pronouncements that the top priority of the AFP under his leadership shall be destruction of the terrorism.

He added that to get the job done, Año wanted focused combat operations against terror groups.

Año also said he would give priority to frontline units by deploying the best officers, enlisted soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines, while enjoining field commanders to take care of their men.
