20 of the Most Amazing Guinness World Records From the Philippines


The Philippines is home to several talents from various fields, such as film, sports and beauty pageants. At the same time, it holds several Guinness records.

Here are 20 of the most remarkable and truly amazing Guinness world records from the country:


#1: Largest liquor shot slam


In December 2010, 2,435 people took part in downing a shot of gin at the Naga City Coliseum.


#2: Largest Island in a lake on an island in a lake on an island



Vulcan Point is a tiny island some 40 meters long, inside Crater Lake at the summit of the Taal Volcano, which is within lake Taal on the island of Luzon.

#3: Largest human smiley


The largest human smiley was achieved by 8,018 people during an event organized by Alliance in Motion (AIM) Global Inc. at Burnham Green, Quirino Grandstand in Luneta Park on May 30, 2015, as part of AIM's 9th anniversary.



#4: Most firework rockets launched in 30 seconds



Composed of 16 stacks with 8,000 firework rockets in each stack, Pyroworks International Inc. (Philippines) in Cebu launched a record of 125,801 rockets in 17 seconds.




#5: Shortest living man (non-mobile)


Junrey Balawing from Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte holds the record for the smallest non-mobile man alive. He was born on June 12, 1993 and measures 59.93 cm or 23.6 in. The measure was verified at Sindangan Health Centre where his height was taken over 6 times in a 247-hour period.




#6: Largest Zumba class workout


Organized by the Mandaluyong City government, the largest Zumba class was attended by 12,975 people, as prt of Mayor Benhur Abalos's birthday celebration on July 19, 2015.

A total of 84 licensed Zumba instructors from the Philippine Zumba Network practiced for two months in preparation for this record.




#7: Largest collection of fast food restaurant toys


Achieved by Percival R. Lugue of Apalit, Pampanga, the collection consists of 10,000 fast food restaurant items and was verified on November 4, 2014.



#8: Fastest time to eat a 12" pizza



The fastest time to eat a 12-inch pizza is 23.62 seconds and was achieved by Kelvin Medina of Taguig on April 12, 2015.




#9: Most hair donated to charity in 24 hours


Part of the 'Matrix 8-Inch Cut for Cancer' campaign in which 1,345 participants, the most hair collected for a donation to charity in 24 hours is 82.21 kg and was achieved on September 19, 2015 by Matrix Philippines in Mandaluyong.


#10: Most trees planted in one hour (multiple locations)


2,294,629 trees were planted by 122,168 participants in an event organized by TreeVolution: Greening MindaNOW at 29 locations across the Philippines on September 26, 2014.


The record-breaking event saw the planting of rubber, cacao, coffee, timber and mahogany trees as well as other fruit trees indegenous to the country.


#11: Most used hashtag on Twitter in 24 hours

Yep it's been official. The most used hashtag in 24 hours on Twitter was #AlDubEBTamangPanahon, with 40,706,392 tweets from October 24-25, 2015.





#12: Longest message chain


With 1,600 participants, the longest message chain was achieved on May 16, 2014 along the beach in Boracay. The event was organized by The Philippine Association of Licensed Therapists.


#13: Longest barbecue



Measuring 8,000 meters (20,246 ft), the longest barbecue was set by the people of Bayambang in Pangasinan on April 4, 2014 during the Malangsi Fish-tival to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city. The barbecue was made up of 8,000 grills connected to each other, which cooked 50,000 kg of fish and 2,000 kg of salt, 480 blocks of ice and 6,000 bags of charcoal were used by 8,000 participants.


#14: Longest continuous poker tournament


The tournament lasted 48 hours 55 minutes and 58.5 seconds ad was organized by the Asian Poker Tour and Resorts World Manila Iron Man Poker Challenge in Pasay from December 13 - 15, 2013.

The total prize pool was US$71,400 and the main event was won by Damon Shulenberger of USA taking home a share of US$18,240.


#15: Largest human rainbow


The record for the largest human rainbow is owned by the Polytechnic University of the Philippines when the state university organized 30,365 participants at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila on September 18, 2004.


#16: Heaviest mango



Weighing 3.435 kg, the heaviest rainbow was presented by Sergio and Maria Socorro Bodiongan at the Sundayag Celebration's Pinaka Contest in Cagayan de Oro City on August 27, 2009.


The mango measured 30.48 cm (12 in) in length, 49.53 cm (19.5 in) in circumference and 17.78 cm (7 in) in width and was harvested from Mr. and Mrs. Bodiongan's front yard.

#17: Largest board game tournament


The record-breaking event was consisted of 43,157 participants playing chess and was achieved by the Cebu City Sports Commission on January 22, 2012.


#18: Most boxing world titles in different weight divisions 


Senator and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao won the most boxing world titles in 8 weight divisions. The record was set after defeating Antonio Margarito of USA to win the WBC Super Welterweight title on November 13, 2010.


#19: Largest human anchor



The largest human image of an anchor involved 6,000 participants and was achieved by the Angkla Party-List and University of Antique at the University of Antique, on January 19, 2016.




#20: Most wine glasses held in one hand


Although the record was achieved in Quatre-Gats Restaurant in Spain on October 24, 2007, it was Filipino Reymond Adina who took the record by holding 39 wine glasses in one hand.
