Taylor Swift, One Direction are the World's Highest Paid Celebrities of 2016, Who Else Made It to the List?

Despite her critics (who would probably hate, hate, hate her even more), Taylor Swift was proclaimed as "The World's Highest-Paid Celebrity of 2016" according the Forbes Celebrity 100 released yesterday, July 13.

With total earnings of a whopping $170 million, 26-year-old Swift "shook off" all other celebrities in and outside the music industry, including Adele (#9), Madonna (#12) and Rihanna (#13). Katy Perry, who was last year's highest paid musician, plummeted to #63.

The heartthrobs of the boy group One Direction, on the other hand, ranked second, with $110 million earnings, making them the highest paid group in the music industry and elsewhere.

Other notable personalities from the entertainment industry who made it to the list are: Ellen DeGeneres (#13), Garth Brooks (#15), Dwayne Johnson (#19) -- also the highest paid actor of 2016, Calvin Harris (#21), and Justin Bieber (#26). Kim Karadashian ranked #42 while Jennifer Lawrence placed #49.

Some of the sports personalities who were included on this year's list are Crisanto Ronaldo (#4), Lionel Messi (#8), LeBron James (#11), Roger Federer (#16), Kevin Durant (#16) and Kobe Bryant (#43).

The Forbes Celebrity 100 considers pretax income of different front-of-the-camera personalities from June 2015 to June 2016. Figures are based on numbers from Nielson, Pollstar, Box Office Mojo, Songkick and IMDB, as well as interviews with insiders and the celebrities themselves. Fees for agents, managers and lawyers are not deducted
