Cyrus Baguio a Welcome Addition to Phoenix

Alaska Aces made strong waves when they sent long-time veteran Cyrus Baguio to Phoenix Fuel Masters.

With the trade, Alaska gets Phoenix's two second round picks. The Aces also sent its 2017 second rounder to Fuel Masters.

The 13-year-veteran will be joining his fifth team in his career after seeing action for Red Bull, Air21, Ginebra, and Alaska.

The Fuel Masters landed an insurance veteran in Cyrus Baguio especially that JC Intal is expected to miss a couple of months with bone spurs in his ankle.

Baguio is expected to provide championship experience to the upstart Fuel Masters.

"He is a welcome addition. Cyrus is a veteran and will fit our style of play," Phoenix head coach Ariel Vanguardia said in an interview.

"He also gives us a proven scorer with JC out until September," said Vanguardia.

Vanguardia looks to implement an up-and-down tempo that suits a type of player like Baguio, who is still feeling strong even at his age.

The former UST standout averaged 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 23 minutes of action last conference in Alaska’s runner up finish in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.

Baguio played a total of six years with the Uytengsu franchise, helping the Alaska to win the 2010 Fiesta Conference and 2013 Commissioner's Cup titles.
