Batman vs Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Iron Man, Spiderman, these are just a few of those superheroes that we currently see on the big screen.
In 1930s to the early 1950s, some of these heroes are just seen on pages. This is known as the "Golden Age" of comic books. During this era, the existence of comic books is quite significant, especially during World War II where people needs a face of a hero in dark times.
Superman is the first among them all, and still remained to be the most successful and famous comic character to date.
Between 1939 and 1941, Detective Comics and its sister company, All-American Publications, introduces superheroes such as Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Atom, Hawkman, Green Arrow, and Aquaman.
In 1940, Marvel Comics released their superheroes such as the Human Torch, the Sub-Mariner, and Captain America.
Though these are the most known comic characters 'til now, Fawcett Comics' Captain Marvel also gained enough popularity during its time but ended up hiding in the shadows after Superman grew more popular and other superheroes started to pop out.
Patriotic heroes debuted in red, white and blue during the time of second World War following The Shield's debut. Captain America even appeared in a cover punching Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Clearly, superheroes back then really acts as heroes in real life through pages by inspiring people, not only children but everyone, despite the war or any global issues. It's like a newspaper in color and in picture instead of full text. And it just doesn't end there.
Though these characters got limited to the common ones like Superman, Batman, and Spiderman back in the start of 2000, seems like the introducing these characters to the big screen just boosted a few years ago.
Back then, if you know a lot about these comic characters, you're a geek and you'll get teased. Now, the more you know, the more you fit in. Though Comic Cons have been active for years, the number of fans also boosted lately. People of all ages now can relate to it.
Now, we see these heroes in the flesh portrayed by great actors and actresses such as Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johansen, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and many more. We also get to see some underground comic characters which we aren't familiar of. These iconic characters are introduced through movies and television series, and most of the time, connected with each other. You just gotta watch them all if you really wanna grasp the story.
