Palawan is Declared World’s Best Island Again, Boracay and Cebu are Runners-Up





For the second time, Palawan has been hailed as the the "Best Island in the World" in Travel and Leisure magazine's "The World's Best Islands."

Palawan first received the top spot in 2013 and it's no surprise that the island, which is home to a five-mile underground river and considered as one of the world's wonders of nature, is back at the top, according to Travel and Leisure report.


Palawan: visitors are greeted with mountains rising out of impossibly turquoise waters.


With a score of 93.71, the country's fifth largest island received several praises from voters. “Palawan is every beach lover’s dream destination,” said one voter, who regarded the island as a “wonderful and magical place.” 

The travel magazine wrote on it's website: "Visitors are greeted with mountains rising out of impossibly turquoise waters, where shipwrecks and reefs make for prime scuba diving and snorkeling."

Two other Philippine islands made it to the top ten of The World's Best Islands: Boracay and Cebu, making three of the best islands are in the Philippines.

Boracay in the Western Visayan region placed second for its white-sand beaches while Cebu in the Central Visayas ranked sixth.


Cebu is 6th world's best island.
