They say you are what you eat, but would you munch on a nearly $2,000 single piece of doughnut?
Dum Dum Donutterie in London created possibly the world's most expensive doughnut: a croissant-doughnut hybrid called the "Luxury Zebra Cro."
The ingredients alone of this doughnut hybrid already sound exquisitely expensive:
- saffron-infused butter croissant dough (hint: saffron is a.k.a vegetable gold),
- Cristal Rosé champagne caviar (Cristal Rosé and caviar in one phrase sounds financially daunting),
- Tahitian gold vanilla beans (gold again and it must be Tahitian), and
- rare Amedei Porcelana chocolate (rare is the operative word).
How much a piece? Well this doughnut will cost your pocket £1,500. In USD, that's roughly $1,974.55. In PHP, using the current conversion rate, that's P92,536.73. Ka-ching!
The Luxury Zebra Cro has been using the nickname CRO since "Cronut" has been trademarked by another company Dominique Ansel. (I'm pretty sure they can easily buy the trademark, with just a dozen of CRO maybe?)
Apparently, this dainty delicacy has been created to celebrate the launch of the Just Eat Food Fest in London, a three-day fair that starts today, July 22.
