Donald Trump's Latest Impersonator ...is Meryl Streep

Multi-Academy award-winning actress Meryl Streep set the bar for Donald Trump impersonators when she dressed up and performed as the billionaire entrepreneur Donald Trump at the New York theater gala on Monday night.

Streep was with Mamma Mia! and Into the Woods actress Christine Baranski, who was dressed as Hilary Clinton -- acting out a musical presidential debate at the annual Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala in Central Park.

The pair sang their own twist of "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" from Broadway's Kiss Me, Kate.

"There's no role she can't tackle," Joey Nolfi of Entertainment Weekly described Streep, who donned a messy hair, low-hanging red tie, a fat suit and a comic orange make up.

Cited in the media as the "best actress in her generation," Streep's Trump exchanged musical jabs with Baranski's Clinton. These were shared on Twitter by reporters and attendees.

Streep naturally garnered praises from other celebrities.

Blogger, columnist and TV personality Perez Hilton wrote on his Twitter account: #MerylStreep playing Donald J. Trump on stage is the strangest thing you have to see today!

GQ writer Jack Moore tweeted: "Meryl Streep dressed up like Donald Trump tonight and Christine Baranski loved it. Sometimes the world is perfect.

Mexican actor and TV host Roger Gonzalez posted: "Bravo Meryl Streep," complete with clapping hands emoji.

It was a bit ironic that Streep played the role of Trump since Clinton said she would want Streep to portray her in a movie about her life. Streep previously delivered a tribute to the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, saying: "If you want a real world leader, and you're really, really lucky, this is what you get."
