Three Vehicles Crashed Resulted to 1 Dead, 31 Injured



A delivery truck had hit a tricycle and a Ceres Liner bus on Saturday night along the highway of Purok Paghidaet in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental causing the death of a passenger and injured 31 others.


Bago City Police Station Deputy Chief Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue said that it appeared that around 9:50 p.m., the truck driver was speeding on his way to Bacolod City that it hit a tricycle that was parked on the sidewalk.


Then the truck collided with another vehicle, the bus, which fell on its side carrying passengers.


This led the deputy chief to speculate that Ricardo Rojo, 28, driver of the delivery truck, fell asleep while driving.


The victim was identified as April Rex Villegas, 24, a resident of Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City, Negros Occidental who was announced as dead on the spot.


While the injured passengers were Rissa Torre, 31 and her four-year-old child; Jeffrey Estosane, 33; Justin Togle, 34; Jade Agote, 22; Evelyn Odtohan, 30; Roselito Calumba, 34; Joel Buenaventura, 28; Shaira Tenero, 19; Steve Ernest Dulaca, 23; Christina Mae Cadungog, 22; Rona Jean Escora, 21; Mark Ian Labrador, 19; Gene Jade Elarmo, 32; Joemon Jison, 35; Sherwin Desponzo, 35; Janice Salem, 32; Jerald Gan, 24; Arjie Villegas, 29; Jose Kristian Clemente, 20; Jan Michael Artifice, 18; Mark Fernandez, 21; Dalbert Buenaflor, 24; Wina Lozada, 18; Jasper Alvarez, 22; Rommel Ambino, 20; and Diego Amarado, 19. They were immediately rushed to nearest hospitals.


Along with injured passengers were the bus conductor RJ Lachica, 27; bus driver Florentino Belleza Jr., 29; truck driver, and tricycle passenger Adelaida Fedilo, 53.


As of now, passengers who had sustained minor injuries were already sent home unlike the bus driver and his conductor who were still confined, together with Rojo.



The Ceres Liner will extend some financial help to the passengers involved and will file charges against the truck driver who caused the crash, as said by legal and media relations manager of Ceres Liner operator Vallacar Transit Inc., Jesideth Seballos.
