Due to apparent exclusion of rape in the death penalty bill approved by the House of Representatives on final reading, President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his dissatisfaction on Thursday.
"Medyo kulang. ‘Yun dapat ‘yung rape with homicide, re-rape-in ka, tapos patayin ka; re-rape-in ka tapos kunan ka ng pera tapos papatayin ka. Dapat lang. Heinous crime. It’s a heinous crime," the President said.
This was after Duterte was asked if he will approve death penalty proposed by the Lower House.
It was on Tuesday when the bill on the revival of death penalty bill in the country was approved on its final reading.
House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez apparently reported the approval to him along with Senate President Aquilino Pimentel.
