Cebu Road Rage Suspect Claims Self-Defense, Plans to File Counter Charges

The camp of Cebu road rage suspect David Lim Jr. claimed he was defending himself when a nurse was shot after a traffic altercation.

Lawyer representing Lim, Orlando Salatandre, said they may also file counter-charges.

Lim, who surrendered Tuesday with help from presidential aide Bong Go, is seen shooting 33-year-old nurse Ehraim Nuñal in a viral video that hit Sunday. The video made rounds on social media.

Lim "surrendered for safe keeping only," Salatandre said. He also said the video appears edited.

The lawyer also denied his client was receiving special treatment from the Philippine National Police, amid reports that he was detained in an air-conditioned room.

Lim, nephew of an alleged drug lord, underwent standard booking procedures. He surrendered at the PNP Regional Office 7 at around 2 a.m. after negotiations between his family and the authorities.

According to Central Visayas police director Chief Supt. Noli Taliña, it was Go who facilitated the negotiations with Lim's camp on Monday after cops failed to find and arrest Lim during a raid in his home.

Go, however, denided that he is personally acquainted with the Lim Family, who he said only reached him through the help of a Davao City resident.

Lim is a suspect of Peter Lim, whom Duterte tagged as a drug trafficker in July 2016. Peter denied his alleged drug links.
