After an alleged distribution of "fake news" and producing "irresponsible and unsubstantiated claim,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar loses job to handle messaging.
Andanar officially announced it last Wednesday saying that his office will be reverted under the Office of the Press Secretary that will be revived in an executive order waiting to be signed.
"Let’s wait for it to be signed and then we can officially release that,” Andanar said.
Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella will shoulder the task of transfer, content and distribution of official communication from MalacaƱang and the President instead.
“In the exigency of service and in accordance with the authority of the secretary... the content and messaging of the Presidential Communications Operations Office, including the authority for the final release and distribution, shall hereinafter be under the supervision and control of the Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella,” the unsigned order read.
The former broadcast journalist will handle "departmental affairs" of PCOO instead which covers agencies like Philippine Information Agency, News and Information Bureau, Philippine News Agency, Bureau of Communications Services, National Printing Office, APO Production Unit, People’s Television, Radyo ng Bayan and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp.
Andanar previously clashed with Senate press for allegedly spreading news that they were paid to cover a press conference.
He could still speak for MalacaƱang if Abella is not around.
