WATCH: Siquijor Town Mayor Caught on Cam Driving Recklessly, Slams Post, Almost Hitting Civilians

A video posted on Facebook allegedly showing Tazi Municipality Mayor James Monte driving recklessly has gone viral reaching over 187,000 views and more almost 3,000 shares.

According to Facbook user Tashi Joemar Zangpo, Monte drove recklessly with his Toyota Hilux pick-up truck, with plate number FGW 119 around the public market last February 19, 6 p.m.

Zangpo noted that the Mayor could have killed with this kind of reckless driving.

He  also claimed that Monte's men hit him in the face and kicked him when they tried to take his phone after his video recording.

"Bilis ng patakbo niya. Sobrang tulin talaga na maari na siya makapatay ng tao. Hihinto niya tapos magpapatulin muli ng takbo siya. Mga pito hanggang sampu ikot niya sa oval palengke road," Zangpo said.

"Nanggaling raw siya sa inuman. Dun mismo sa town niya", Zangpo added.

Monte, however, denied the allegations and said he was not driving the pick-up truck.

In his official statement, Monte said he was not around the time as claimed: "The video was shot around early evening of February 19, 2017, a Sunday, around the vicinity of the town's public market. I did not drive around town as claimed."

He, however, admitted that he "drove around the public market," as the video was recorded.

Monte also blamed party politics as the motive behind the accusations. He said that Zangpo is a close friend of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Noel Monte, a member of the Liberal Party.

The official statement mentions of Monte being "the only non-LP elected Mayor in all of the six towns in Siquijor."
