Bato Warns Media: Don’t Make Us Look Bad

A frustrated Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa cried foul on Monday, January 23, after the media sought to hear the side of alleged kidnap-slay mastermind SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel and his wife.

Dela Rosa, who just celebrated his birthday yesterday, said some reporters are destroying their credibility with the way news are being reported.

“Ang mahirap dito ‘yung ibang media, ‘yung gumagawa ng kasalanan ‘yun pa ang gagawing hero,” the PNP chief said at a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Jinky Sta. Isabel, wife of the main suspect in the killing of Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo, held a conference in her residence yesterday to clear the name of her husband from the kidnapping and the murder case.

She presented evidence, which include CCTV footages and recorded phone calls, in an attempt to prove their innocence. She also claimed they are being framed by higher ranking PNP officials.

Bato said that Jinky was twisting facts to make them look bad.

Where’s justice?” the PNP chief said.

“Gusto nyo gawing hero si Sta. Isabel?

As a conclusion, he pleaded the media to be transparent. He also vowed that there will be no coverup in their investigation.
