The additional three cops tagged in the case popularly known
as ‘Tokhang for Ransom’ were members of AIDG, anti-narcotics unit of the
Philippine National Police, said Senior Supt. Albert Ignatius Ferro, director
of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG).
Jee Ick Joo, a businessman, was abducted on October 18, 2016
in Angeles City where kidnappers allegedly demand for ransom twice.
The victim’s wife said that they had already paid P5 million
as ransom to his husband’s abductors. After such, asking for P4.5 million
again.
Upon reaching out to PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, the chief of police ordered manhunt for all alleged policemen involved.
Previously, SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel surrendered and sought himself voluntarily to be kept under
investigation regarding Jee’s abduction being the one who tricked the three
other cops into the operation appeared to look legitimate.
Sta. Isabel allegedly created a seemingly legitimate ‘Operation:
Tokhang’ by following protocols used in combating a target.
Suspects will be undergoing pre-charge investigation.
“If found guilty,
they will be discharged and administratively charged and if they are further
found involved in criminal side they will be prosecuted by the court,” Ferro
explained.
He added that they are also looking into the former
commander of Sta. Isabel, whom he refused to name, who formerly endorsed the
suspect to be part of the AIDG unit.
