After a confirmatory drug test, a total of 195 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were found positive of illegal drug abuse.
188 uniformed personnel and seven non-uniformed staff were confirmed users of methamphetamine (shabu), said Chief Supt. Aurelio Trampe, chief of PNP Crime Laboratory in Camp Crame.
He added that Region 4A (CALABARZON) topped the most number of cops related to drug abuse, followed by Metro Manila or the National Capital Region (NCR).
According to him, drug penetrated the level of a chief inspector as the highest down to Police Officer 1.
Confirmed cops will undergo summary dismissal proceedings.
167,852 personnel took the mandatory drug test conducted from January 1, 2016 to January 17, 2017.
