DC's most awaited hero-focused super villain movie Suicide Squad will be released next month. But most of the characters in this hard-hitting movie are unfamiliar to the general public. Some among the original members of the Suicide Squad in the comics did not make the cut at all and one of them was the King Shark.
Before the full cast of Suicide Squad was released, it was rumored that Resident Evil actor Raymond Olubowale would appear as King Shark. It was then followed by a report that Aquaman would be seen locked up in the same prison as a certain mutated shark following a fight between the two. But after the official Suicide Squad teasers, we now know that these rumors aren't true.
Suicide Squad still have to make use of CGI, based on the previews of Enchantress and The Adversary's forces. In order to feature King Shark, CGI would have been the only option to properly portray him. Meanwhile, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's Killer Croc was a makeup creation, taking inspiration from villain's earlier appearances than making him have an crocodile-shaped head. Clearly, the new Killer Croc isn't as complicated as the King Shark would have been.
Despite not making the cut for Suicide Squad, King Shark still appeared in live action media. This chomping villain cameoed in The Flash TV series last October at the end of "The Fury of Firestorm" as one of the Earth-2 "metahumans" sent to kill the Scarlet Speedster. He later returned in "King Shark" as that week's main antagonist after escaping ARGUS's custody and trying to complete his mission.
Besides Gorilla Grodd, King Shard still remains the show's most impressive CGI creation and there's still a chance for this villain to return in The Flash's upcoming episodes.
King Shark also appears in other DC installments like Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Batman: Assault on Arkham.
Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5.
