For the first time, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and the new Golden State Warriors teammate Kevin Durant shared the floor. The milestone happened within the second quarter of Team USA's 111-74 win against Argentina of Friday's Olympic preparation run. And they didn't even realize it.
As a matter of fact, they didn't realize anything at all. Durant didn't even notice that it was Green who set a screen for him, which freed KD to nail a 3-pointer. Or when Green set up Durant for two more 3-pointers and Durant hit Green for a 3-pointer in a span of four possessions.
"When you're out there right now, you don't even think about the fact that we're teammates," Green said.
Green, Durant and Thompson played together for only two minutes, but they played longer and stronger in separate pairs, specifically with Green at center and Durant at small forward.
The highlight of the evening, however, belonged to Paul George who scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with two steals. It is a big comeback for George after suffering from a broken leg in an exhibition two years ago in Las, Vegas.
Coach Mike Kryzewski praised George's play and the fact that he was in the best shape.
Kryzewski's small lineups repeatedly victimized Argentina's inexperienced big men. Also, with DeAndre Jordan and DeMarcus Cousins at center, the Americans crushed the Argentines on the inside with the second chance points.
The only time Argentina was competitive was when veterans Manu Ginobili, Luis Scola, Carlos Delfino and Andres Nocioni played together. They tied the Americans 24-24 in the third quarter, but their younger players struggle otherwise.
