Former President Aquino Execs to Stay Until July 31

MalacaƱang said in its first memorandum under President Duterte's administration that government officials and employees of former President Benigno Aquino III have until July 31 to stay in office.

"In the exigency of the service and to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of national government services to the people, the following are hereby directed to continue serving in holdover capacity until 31 July 2016 unless their appointments are sooner revoked, resignations accepted, replacements appointed or reappointments issued," the memo said.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed the memorandum dated June 30.

The memorandum covers "all government officials and employees whose appointments are coterminous with the appointing authority and whose positions are within an agency’s plantilla, except the Head of Agency" and those "holding positions whose terms of office have expired, unless prohibited by law."

Medialdea suggests that they should continue working until July 31, unless the coterminous officials are advised otherwise.

"(The) officials whose positions have become functus officio by 12 noon of June 30, 2016 are hereby directed to ensure a smooth transition and turnover of their records and documents, both hard and e-copies, to their successors and/or highest career official in their respective agencies," the memo read.

Medialdea said the Palace would issue a supplementary or clarificatory memorandum if necessary.
