'The Voice' singer Christina Grimmie dead after being shot at her concert

Singer Christina Grimmie died at 22 years old after being shot at her show in Orlando.


The former The Voice contestant was taken to a local hospital in Orlando, Florida after being shot by a male suspect, who then proceeded to shoot himself.

Members of the band Before You Exit were signing autographs after a concert at Orlando's Plaza Live when a male suspect approached Grimmie and shot her. Grimmie's brother immediately tackled the suspect. During the struggle, the suspect shot himself and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter was then identified as Kevin James Loibi a 27-year-old man, armed with two guns and a knife, who traveled to Orlando from another city in Florida specifically to kill her.
In 2014, Grimmie participated in season six of The Voice, impressing the judges for a four chair turner audition. She ultimated joined Adam Levine's team and went on to the finals, finishing in third place.

Earlier this year, Grimmie released her second EP entitled Side A, which consisted of four songs, with plans to later release Side B.
