Snoop Dogg bashes ‘Roots’ remake, fed up with slavery films

The rapper Snoop Dogg took out his rage on Instagram, telling his fans to boycott the History Channel’s reboot of “Roots.”

In a video posted on Memorial Day, Snoop Dogg appeared casually chilling, sitting on couch and looks into the camera and throws all his opinion in a one minute shot.

According to Snoop Dogg, he is already fed up with remakes like “Roots” and films like “12 Years a Slave.” He also asked his fans to boycott the series because he is sick of seeing shows portraying the history of black people being abused in America. He also lashed on the movie “12 Years a Slave”, saying that instead of showing the abused which happened hundreds of years ago, people should create films based on, “how we live and how we inspire people today.”

Snoop’s Instagram video has reached nearly 76,000 views and 1,000 comments after being posted.

The four part eight hour long series “Roots” will be airing on History Channel from May 30 to June 2, 2016 and can also be seen on A&E and Lifetime. It was a remake of the original long running series based on Alex Haley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel which debuted on ABC in 1977.

“12 Years a Slave” is a 2013 period drama film based on the 1853 slave narrative memoir of the same title by Solomon Northup.
