Alaska Aces hopeful for a championship

Looking to end their three-year title drought, the Alaska Aces are now driven by desire to put everybody on notice as the season-ending Governors' Cup nears.

Alaska deputy coach Louie Alas saw that desire in the team during its offseason practices, as the morale of the players is on its high.

"Kung gagawing basis ang practice, feeling ko hindi napapagod at hindi nagsasawa ang mga players. Yung motivation nilang manalo, nandoon pa rin at hindi nawawala," Alas said.

Despite missing head coach Alex Compton and star Calvin Abueva -- who are serving the national team at that time -- Alaska's fighting spirit remained positive as it looks forward to the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Alaska reinforcement LaDontae Henton is also showing brilliance during practices, jelling very well with the team's system.

Alaska will also have the services of point guard JVee Casio back, who missed the preceding conference due to a knee injury as he is getting back to game shape.

"He’s on his way sa playing form, and we could see na kundisyon naman siya," Alas explained.

The team is still finetuning the system, though the Aces are very much on their way to a hundred percent come game time.

"Everyone in our lineup is capable of being the leader sa team. They keep on encouraging everyone na kahit natatalo, hindi kami titigil hangga’t hindi namin nakukuha yung championship." said Alas. "Good thing nga na nakakarating tayo sa Finals eh kasi yung iba, hindi. Right now, all we want is to stay positive."
