Draymond Green settles for F2, escapes suspension

The Warriors and the Dubnation fanbase can breathe with semblance of comfort for now.

Upon further review of Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green's kick to the groin of Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams, the league has elected not to suspend the former.

Instead, the NBA has upgraded the flagrant foul penalty 1 to penalty 2, which incurs a fine of $25,000 to Green.

Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript provided the league's official statement:

Green and Warriors head tactician Steve Kerr were adamant that the contact was unintentional, and even lobbied to the league to reverse the initial flagrant foul call.

Green said to NBA official Scott Foster, "Scott, how am I getting a flagrant because my leg went in the air trying to follow through on a shot?" He said, "Draymond, I'm not saying it's intentional. Honestly, I don't think it was intentional at all. But you caught him in the groin area, so I have to give you a flagrant," Green said. "I didn't argue it. OK, that's understandable."

Warriors are currently trailing Thunder 2 games to 1 in their Western Conference Finals showdown.

Game 4 is at Chesapeake Energy Arena, where the Dubs seek to even the series.
