Man Died Inside a Horror House of a Theme Park

As part of the annual Halloween festival, the largest amusement park in Hong Kong opened a haunted house attraction called "Buried Alive", but what seems to be an exciting kickoff turned to tragedy as a man died accidentally inside.

The 21-year-old man, surnamed Cheung, died after being hit by a coffin on Saturday.

He was found unconscious five minutes prior to his entrance to the horror house, Ocean Park chief executive Matthias Li said Saturday.

He was declared dead as soon as he came in the hospital, police said.

"Buried Alive" is one of the attractions featured by the Ocean Park for the Halloween that will from October 5 to 31.

Anyone who will get in will "experience being buried alive alone, before fighting their way out of their dark and eerie grave," its description in the park's website said.

They will ride inside a coffin-turned-slide, and slip through into the haunted house where they ought to see "a rocky maze filled with dreadful ghouls".

Hong Kong's government, who ordered the closure of the attaction until further notice, believed that the victim wandered off into a restricted area inside the horror house.

Police said an investigation was ongoing.
