A father who attempted to cure the chronic cough of his 1-year-old baby went wrong.
As a home remedy, he left his baby alone in a steamy bathroom, but at around 5:15 am, Mordechai Halpern was found unresponsive.
He transported the baby to the nearest hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival, police said.
The baby had bronchitis, an acute or chronic condition that involves coughing.
His father has even given him a mixture of lemon, sugar and water, according to sources.
But when he starts coughing again, he took him to the bathroom, where he turned on hot water in the shower.
The father left the baby alone in a stroller near the toilet to give him steam while he fell asleep.
When her wife check him upon an alarm set at 5:00 am, Mordechai was already unresponsive.
Police said that no visible signs of trauma was seen while his body temperature when he died was 108 degrees.
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
