MUST READ: Expert's Projection on the Potential Impact of a North Korean Nuclear Attack in Manila

In their latest and apparently, most powerful nuclear bomb test, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un showed how they are "begging for war" to the United States.

The said bomb test just caused 6.3 magnitude of tremor based on reports by the US Geological Survey.

A maritime expert and an associate professor from University of the Philippines College of Law tried to figure out on what will happen to Manila in case of a nuclear attack.

Jay L. Batongbacal, out of his own curiosity, endeavored to simulate and plot the probable impact when a 100 kiloton hydrogen bomb happens to explode 200 ft above the country's capital city.

He used an online tool to map out the potential impact the supposed nuclear attack can cause the overpopulated city.

 Here are his most note-worthy projections:

1. "Everything in a circular area spanning from UST to the National Museum would be completely incinerated;

2. "Beyond that, all structures except for the strongest buildings from La Loma to Sta, Mesa to Manila Zoo would be flattened;

3. "Anyone from Caloocan to West Triangle to Makati who were not instantly killed in the blast would suffer fatal 3rd degree burns;

4. "Others a little bit further out up (from Malabon-Navotas, Quezon City, to Baclaran) would have 50/50 chance of surviving 2nd degree burns."

His study however, doesn't include the aftermath damages that may occur. He is urging nuclear scientists and other concerned experts to conduct a more in-depth study regarding this.
