A 4-month old baby was found alive but covered in blood in a coconut field in Carcar City in Cebu after being allegedly abducted and raped.
Initial findings said that the child was taken out of their house, that has no doors but curtains, before Wednesday midnight while sleeping next to her mother.
An old woman, who has heard the cry of the baby, seek help from her neighbor until they discover the infant 100 meters away from the house of the victim's family.
Based on investigation, lacerations, blood and some grass were in the child's private part but semen was not found .
However, physician from Carcar District Hospital confirmed that the infant was raped.
Six suspects were prodded, including the child's father who was just in the other room, said PO3 Camia Codo of Carcar City Police Station Women’s Desk.
“Mostly all of the suspects are drug [surrenderers] except for the father. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can and we will not stop until the culprit is caught,” Carcar City public information officer Candice Acuña said in an official statement.
Jonathan Marfe, 40, was already arrested Friday afternoon being one of the prime suspects in the child's death.
Carcar Police Chief Insp. Jose Liddawa said that Marfe, formerly charged with attempted murder in Bohol, was having a drinking session with his three friends the night the child was abducted.
He added that Marfe was seen by a witness entering the house of the victim.
The infant was already admitted to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for complete healing.
